Always loved this scene from Phantom Traveler. It was their first ever face-to-face, mano-e-mano with a demon without John there to back them up, and yet he somehow knew to leave them a (not blatantly encouraging, but somehow affirming) message that they have to keep going, even though they are miles apart. What they wouldn’t do for a reminder like that right now…

Jared does this awesome burst of subtle controlled anger there, like Sam is mad that Dean can’t have faith in him or trust him to save him. Followed by hurt. And then the stubborn kicks in…
This is the exact moment that I realized there was going to be more to this story than saving people and hunting things.
